Poor experience! Go to any competitor before Circuit City

Don't be fooled. Circuit City's stock is below $2 a share and their customer service has taken a nose dive. The free shipping on the website is not honored and the personnel in the store are not trained to help customers with defective merchandise. At the store in Round Rock, Tx, the personnel answering the phones will give bogus names of managers. IF you can reach corporate offices, dispute credit card payments, and contact the Better Business Bureau, you MIGHT get a return phone call.

I am not satisfied at all. I ordered a PSP for a friend for his birthday and since it was over $200 there was an option of free shipping and I chose that. And till this day he has not recieved it. It is very upsetting to know that circuit city offers free shipping but there's no guarantee that the package will ever get to it's destination. and to top of my purchasing experience with this company every time i called i got disconnected finally after the 8th time i called i got to talk to the supervisor who could not help me with anything but to refund me for the package. But other than that they were no help at all and very rude on top of it!!! I still hvnt recieved my refund and i'm afraid to purchase it again from someone else what if i never get the money back from these people!!!...I hope i get my money back but this made me look really bad in front of my friends and wasted my time on top of it!!! This was an extremely bad experience and I will never purchase anything on their website again!!!

The worst shopping experience online ever!

Almost a month ago I ordered Philips DVP-5140 DVD Player from CircuitCity.com and it was my worst shopping experience online ever because I have never received the item. Customer service representatives, who I called many times, were not helpful at all. All I heard, was "Call in a few days, and we will issue refund, or send you another item". But when I called them again in a few days, I heard the same thing, and nobody was willing to investigate an issue, send another item, or issue refund. When I requested to speak with supervisor, I was transferred to another customer service representative, more aggressive and rude, who denied my request and actually cut me off! She didn't want even to listen to me! Representatives don't allow you to speak with supervisors, saying that supervisors are very busy talking to other customers! Needless to say, I am not going to shop with CircuitCity anymore.

Very, very disappointing.

I purchased a 3-year Advantage Protection Plan warranty for a laptop, and tried to use it. I found that the plan I had unfortunately paid for has so many, many restrictions and exclusions that it was useless in my opinion. I had no abuse or accidental damage, only wear and tear, but that made no difference.

I used to shop there, but after this experience, I started to check around and found lots of people have had the same problems. It taught me a lesson. I have had many experiences with stores whose policy is "If it breaks during the warranty period, we'll repair or replace it", not "Did you read the tiny type before you bought this? No -- tooooo bad!"

I feel like a real sucker. But it won't happen again.

Poor customer service- only in it for the $$$$

Bought a Bose system that evidently wasn't compatible with our 2 year old tv. We called the store and spoke to the salesperson who sold it to us. He told us we were out of luck and we'd need to come in and buy a new tv. Yeah, right. I ended up hooking it up thru my DVD player. He didn't even ask what kind of hookups we had on the tv, just "you need a new tv". And we did purchase the extented warranty. didn't help. System went out about 60 days after purchase, and we gave up on Circuit City, after numerous phone calls. Called Bose directly, who handled it all and we are still enjoying the replacement system they sent us.

CIRCUIT CITY SUCKS.....

Bought a LG home theatre system at circuit city. After all the nice sales talk I decided to buy an open item. They loaded the unit into my car unpacked (literally unpacked) and gave me a remote they probably did not know to which model it belonged to. After finding out that the remote wasn't the correct one I went back to get the right one. After a few apologies they give me a new remote (oh that did not have the battery lid..reason:some customer stole it), which I found out wasn't the correct one again. So I go back again and they say they cannot find the right remote. So hell with circuit city, I decided to but my own remote. NOW HERE IS THE FUNNY THING -- AFTER I SEARCHED THE INTERNET I FOUND OUT THAT THE LABEL THEY PASTED ON THE UNIT BELONGED TO A DIFFERENT MODEL...KUDOS CIRCUITY CITY..NICE WAY TO SELL AN ITEM.

I have totally stopped shopping at Circuit City and opt for Best Buy every time. The last incident was the straw that broke the camel's back. Had unbelieveable difficult even locating a clerk in the computer department. He was "busy" with another customer who was looking at laptops. She was not even asking him questions, but he kept interjecting, while I stood patiently by. Could it be because she was an attractive woman? After like 5 minutes of him seeing and utterly ignoring me, despite the fact I obviously had a question to ask him, I gave up. Left the store and vowed that, if this is CC's definition of customer service, they can provide it to someone else. I will never patronize them again.

I ordered the Pentax AF-360 FGZ flash from Circuit City. It's shipping container was in perfect shape from Fed Ex but the Pentax box inside was totally ripped and crushed looking. This was not the fault of Fed Ex. This unit came with free shipping but I upgraded to 2nd day because I needed the flash for the weekend.There was an inspection sticker on the box saying it was only box damage, dated in 2006! The flash inside was totally destroyed. Why a piece of new equipment was shipped in this condition is beyond me. I drove 25 miles one way to my nearest Circuit City store to get my money back....but they refused to refund the $8 shipping fee, telling me to call customer support. I did and after explaining the situation they also refused to refund the shipping. This is the last money I will ever spend at Circuit City, I hope they use that $8 wisely.

Don't buy a car stereo here. If you need to return it the "free" installation is deducted from your refund. Also, they charge absurd amounts of money for their wiring harnesses which are free on crutchfield. Do a little internet research to learn more about their extended warranty programs which are complete rip-offs.

AVOID THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM!

I purchased a new iPod 5G in early spring 2007, and I purchased the extended warranty with it. A few months later, the machine's software went bad, and it had to be replaced, Circuit City's (expensive) Advantage Plan took care of it, and in 2 weeks I had a different iPod. NOT a new one, but a refurb, with a SIGNIFICANTLY shorter battery life. The battery died out about 5 months later, so the iPod could only be played while plugged in to electricity. Circuit City's Advantage program said I should have reacted within 90 days, but it is a paid and expense to repack and send the iPod, and lose it for two weeks (I use it every day! Now I have a Sony that works even better!)

I do not recommend the replacement service: it's expensive, and you get a lower quality refurb.
